Rock/Review Ari Joshua - Voodoo Chile

Ari Joshua has quietly built a reputation as a guitarist who defies boundaries. With collaborations featuring Robert Glasper, Delvon Lamarr, Skerik, John Medeski, and members of Trey Anastasio Band, Joshua has made it his mission to bring his vault of recorded music to the world. His Music Factory Records label has become a hub for adventurous musicians, and his Music Factory School continues to inspire the next generation.

In cooperation with drummer Russ Lawton and pianist Ray Paczkowski, Ari Joshua has released the RAaR Trio, a furious, soul-charged rendition of Jimi Hendrix's iconic "Voodoo Chile." This version, which is performed by three of the most eloquent and daring musicians in the jam and fusion scenes, is more than just a cover; it is a vast, improvisational voyage through the rich terrain of blues, rock, and psychedelic.

Joshua's guitar grabs attention right away with its fiery leads, which pay homage to Hendrix while firmly establishing new territory. With grit and groove, Lawton's drumming pulsates, providing deep-pocket rhythms that ground the mayhem. The tune is given a vintage, cosmic energy that is both fascinating and eerie by Paczkowski's Hammond organ, which swirls around the edges of the mix like smoke.

The song, which was released by Music Factory Records, is more than just a tribute; it's an expansion of Hendrix's essence, distilled via years of improvisational development. One gets the impression that anything might happen at any time and that RAaR really flourishes in an environment of unpredictability.

"Voodoo Chile" is a strong statement from a trio that doesn't mince words. Rather, they demolish the song's foundation and reassemble it into something audacious, respectful, and wholly unique. This song serves as an exciting reminder to fans of psychedelic rock, fusion, or Hendrix himself of what occurs when unbridled melodic discovery and technical ability collide.
