Her childhood brought many experiences that left lasting impressions of immense sadness, hope, and unwavering faith for better days. These experiences included watching a friend in her neighborhood, who was only a year older than her, pass away from cancer; her favorite third grade teacher passing from pancreatic cancer; her father having brain surgery for a Dural-cutaneous fistula; and her mother being diagnosed with Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma.
