Rock/Review Inviolet Row - Alpha Male

Inviolet Row was founded in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 2001 by Lee Scrivner (guitar and vocals), Kevin Brewer (guitar), Casey Johnson (bass), and Abe Millet (drums). Early that year, they began writing and recording songs for what was to become their debut album, Consolation Prizes. Millett left the band while the album was being mixed to devote more time to other projects, eventually joining Third Eye Blind in 2008. The mixing and recording of their debut took over a year because of personnel changes, and during this time, Ronnie Vannucci Jr. briefly sat in as a replacement drummer, just weeks before joining The Killers.

The humorous and thought-provoking rock song "Alpha Male" by Inviolet Row explores the intricacies of contemporary love and the erasing boundaries between reality and artificiality. The song addresses the rising issue of individuals developing emotional ties to manufactured pictures rather than genuine human relationships. It is characterized as the first and only love song to a girl who is in love with an AI-generated lover cloned from the resemblance of Benedict Cumberbatch.

As audacious and powerful musically as its subject matter, "Alpha Male" Strong percussion, a raw, expressive vocal delivery, and gritty guitar riffs all work together to accurately convey the tension and sarcasm in the lyrics. With its fast rhythms and captivating melodies, the song's contagious rock energy makes it both a banger and a critique.

Lyrically, Inviolet Row deftly and cunningly navigates the ridiculousness of the circumstance. The song highlights the widening gap in human relationships by examining the strange but more prevalent situation where people fall in love with digital facsimiles, whether it be sex bots, AI companions, or celebrity personas. The song is made more relevant and approachable by the pop culture allusion to Benedict Cumberbatch, which also adds a humorous element.

"Alpha Male" asks listeners to consider how technology has shaped our love relationships and to consider the veracity of bonds made with virtual beings. It's a biting indictment of a culture that frequently prioritizes romanticized imagery above real interpersonal communication, all wrapped up in an infectiously catchy and upbeat rock sound. "Alpha Male" by Inviolet Row is a remarkable song that speaks to a number of emotions on several levels since it skillfully blends comedy with unadulterated musicianship to discuss a serious subject.
