Metal/Interview Timington - Glorious Chaos

Hello Timington. Can you tell us more about your musical journey and how you became a multi-genre music producer?

I started off as a guitarist in a grungy rock band. Then when that came to an end I started making my own stuff and wanted to get it recorded and that in short started my dive into producing.

What inspired you to explore such a diverse range of genres, from rock and hip hop to orchestra and metal?

I think just enjoying a range of music. And being a fan of musicians that dip into multiple styles of music. Also if an idea comes in genre leaning in to the feel of artists that do that whilst keeping my own spin on things

"Glorious Chaos" is a unique blend of doom metal, jazz, and psychedelic elements. How did you come up with this fusion, and what was the creative process behind it?

This track started off being inspired by the band Avanterium. The way they go from Doom metal to acoustic really appeals to me. So it started with that. Also the way bands like Zeppelin used go psychedelic in the middle of songs a blend of those ideas

The track "Glorious Chaos" carries a positive message about embracing the chaos of the world. Can you elaborate on this theme and what it means to you personally?

The world can be a terrifying place so much going on from War and Riots to even a big city with a lot of people can be overwhelming. But it's kind of a beautiful thing if you stop and look at it and be part of it and think how crazy it is that we are here. And I want to let people know it's ok to be part of that. And I really think Hannah did a great job lyricly to convey this. And I hope the music lends itself to the message.

What challenges did you face while integrating epic choir elements into a doom metal song, and how did you overcome them?

The big problem is combining the two powerful forces of a Big Wall of ugly Distorted guitars and synths. And the Beautiful Elegant choir And balancing them to work together was a challenge for sure.

How do you approach composing music that spans such different genres? Do you have a specific process or does it vary with each project?

It really does depend on the project, some are ideas I have and I try my best to make them. Others I messaged around play, with music software or guitar and see what comes out. Both times trying to let the song be what it wants getting out the way of my own creativity.

Can you share some of your musical influences and how they have shaped your sound and style?

There are many big influences. Is Devin Townsend not necessarily just for music but also his approach to music is international as well.

And then also Metallica, the Beatles, Pink Floyd to name but a few. This song was a bit of Black Sabbath, Avanterium. Mick Gordon and some John Williams as well.

What message or feeling do you hope listeners take away from "Glorious Chaos"?

That even though the world is chaotic that it's ok to embrace it, it's a beautiful thing.

As a UK-based producer, how has the local music scene influenced your work, and are there any particular UK artists or bands that you draw inspiration from?

We have a fantastic music scene in the UK and particularly locally the south coast near Brighton is flooded with fantastic musicians. A big influence was Hannah Lewis who did the vocals and wrote the lyrics. I couldn't have done this without her and know her talents from seeing her perform locally.

King goat is also a band that has a similar kind of style of prog doom and a great band.
The guys in Derelict Dream are good friends of mine and conversations with them helped with this song. And the class at Waterbear lead me down more music styles.

What can we expect next from you? Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations that you're excited about?

I'm also working on music for a small video game at the moment. I am excited to see where that goes. But I'm always on the look for new projects.
