Electronic/Review JSDavani - imaginary vowels
JSDavani is a multi-instrumentalist, he participated in the experimental music and arts scene in Atlanta, GA from 2006-2014, and during that time performed and collaborated with a number of local artists and groups (white lions, khovicoobah, butterface, mengele, ponypayroll bones, among others).
JSDavani's EP "imaginary vowels" is a mesmerizing journey through ambient soundscapes and ethereal melodies. Each track on this EP presents a unique sonic experience, blending elements of electronic music with subtle hints of organic instrumentation. With its dreamlike atmosphere and intricate composition, "imaginary vowels" invites listeners to immerse themselves in a world of liminal spacing and introspection.
The opening track, "liminal spacing," sets the tone for the entire EP. It immediately transports you to a realm where time and space seem to blur, creating a sense of suspension and anticipation. The delicate interplay between the layers of sound creates a captivating ambience that is both soothing and thought-provoking.
"You can relax: (crows can watch kids)" introduces a gentle rhythm and a haunting melody. The title itself hints at a paradoxical situation, and the music reflects this ambiguity. The track carries a sense of melancholy, yet there is also a reassuring quality to it. It feels like finding solace in unexpected places, where even the presence of crows watching over children can bring a sense of tranquility.
Moving further into the EP, we encounter "forresting," a composition that conjures images of dense foliage and the hushed whispers of nature. The layers of sound intertwine seamlessly, mimicking the complex ecosystem of a forest. It's a track that inspires introspection and encourages the listener to explore their own inner landscape while being surrounded by the organic symphony that unfolds.
The final track, "Asleep in the elevator," offers a departure from the previous pieces. Here, JSDavani takes us on a journey through a different realm, where the boundaries of reality become blurred. The ethereal tones and subtly pulsating beats create a sense of weightlessness, as if floating in an elevator between dreams and waking life. It's a fitting end to the EP, leaving the listener in a state of contemplation and curiosity.
