Rock/Review The Loud Bangs - Why Things Fray

Founded in the summer of 2021, Los Angeles rockers The Loud Bangs were brought together by a love of shoegaze, ‘90s alternative, and German club music. The result: thick guitars, analog synthesizers, fuzzy production, and introspection, in that their songs typically center around the subject of mental health.

"Why Things Fray" is the eighth 5-song EP from the band, released within a span of sixteen months. This particular EP explores the theme of love from a distant perspective, capturing the essence of a fading romantic connection. The songs delve into the complexities of a relationship on the verge of ending, with an atmospheric and enigmatic quality that mirrors the metaphorical embers of a dying fire.

In this release, the band further embraces their comparison to Pink Floyd, incorporating elements of the iconic band's sound into their own musical style. The EP showcases a compelling collection of tracks that maintain slow tempos and an ethereal haze throughout. The deliberate pacing and atmospheric textures create an immersive listening experience, drawing the audience into the introspective and melancholic atmosphere of the music.
