Pop/Review Rehya Stevens - Be My Baby By Christmas Night

Rehya Stevens is not only a gifted and highly praised singer-songwriter; she's also an insightful observer when it comes to a vast spectrum of human emotions. Granted, it’s a rare artist who can fully plough through the tangled web of feelings and experiences encountered during the often confounding journey that encompasses life’s entirety, but Rehya has been given the gift of not only perception but also sensitivity, and with that, the ability to make music that is readily relatable to everyone fortunate enough to find it.

Rehya Stevens’ new single “Be My Baby By Christmas Night,” delivers a welcome dose of levity to a season when contemplative reflection sets in for many. Rehya’s previous single “Early Winter,” took us down winter’s melancholy path, while the playful nature of this new track stands in buoyant juxtaposition.

Though undeniably drenched in love-sickness of the romantic variety, “Be My Baby By Christmas Night” happens to be inspired by the artist’s adored (albeit mischievous) cat, Gigi. The raucous piano glisses and drum fills set the stage for the rebel feline who escaped a few days before Christmas, only to be found feasting on a neighbor’s shabbat dinner next door.

Stevens' warm, cheerful vocals deliver unbridled energy that sets the room to “festive” mode from bar 1. Backed by a retro-soul-inspired arrangement coupled with catchy hooks and instantly relatable lyrics, it’s hard not to love this track.

“Be My Baby By Christmas Night” is an excellent new Christmas song that will lift you out of the winter doldrums and get you in the holiday spirit. Put this one on for the party, it’s contagious!
